Help build the trusted home for music listeners.

Crates is a next-generation music app providing a trusted home for dedicated listeners – combining library management, in-app streaming, deep customization, and community-driven discovery.

We have already built a fully fledged desktop app and an early version of our Swift-based iOS and Android apps. We are looking for an iOS Engineer who will own the iOS mobile experience – a founding member who can stabilize what exists, then lead it into a state-of-the-art, scalable future.

What You’ll Do

  • Take full ownership of our working iOS app (Swift) – fix bugs, refactor critical parts, and bring it to a rock-solid stable release.
  • Gradually modernize the architecture, updating dependencies and adopting best practices.
  • Work hand-in-hand with our team of three engineers and one UI/UX designer to define and deliver new features.
  • Shape the roadmap for the iOS product and influence technical direction across Crates.

We’re Looking For Someone

  • With proven experience with Swift, UIKit/SwiftUI, and modern iOS tooling & frameworks.
  • Comfortable working their way through an existing, complex production codebase.
  • With solid experience with media playback, async interaction and passion for UI/UX.
  • Who thrives in fast-moving, early-stage environments and wants ownership.
  • With a genuine interest in music technology, craftsmanship, and user-centric design.

What We Offer

  • Founding-member status – you’ll be the iOS owner from day one.
  • Equity in the company (significant and negotiable).
  • Flexible setup:
    • Full-time: minimum salary + equity
    • Part-time: flexible hours with equity-first structure
  • Remote-friendly, creative, collaborative culture.
  • Direct impact – your work becomes a core pillar of a product already in users’ hands.

Why Join Crates

Music apps today are fragmented and impersonal. Crates is rebuilding what was lost – ownership, community, and meaning in digital music. We’re a small, fast-moving team with a working product, real traction, and a clear mission. If you’re ambitious, curious, and want to build something culturally important, we’d love to talk.
