Get CratesCrates is a next-generation music app providing a trusted home for dedicated listeners — combining library management, in-app streaming, deep customization and community-driven discovery. Available on desktop (Mac and Windows), with mobile apps and browser extensions, it brings your files and online collections together in one searchable, organized space. It also acts as a personal music workstation, designed for people who care deeply about how they collect, explore and experience music.
Crates comes in two versions: Community and Supporter. The Community version is free and includes all core features. The Supporter version unlocks mobile app access, advanced functionality, discovery features, priority support, perks, and costs €39 (currently discounted to €30) as a one-time license. It’s our way of keeping the project open while rewarding those who help sustain it.
No. Crates does not host music or replace streaming platforms. It connects to your existing services and brings them together with your own files in one organized place.
No. Crates works alongside your existing services. You can connect them and keep using them as usual, and also stream inside Crates (except for Spotify).
Crates is built for dedicated listeners — collectors, DJs and music enthusiasts who want more control, organization and discovery than traditional streaming apps offer.
You can import local files or connect your YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, and other accounts, using the Library menu. You can also drag and drop folders or supported links (from Bandcamp, Discogs, YouTube etc), or use the Crates browser extension.
No. Your library is stored locally on your devices and is not uploaded to Crates servers. Crates is built with privacy in mind. We cannot access, monitor or collect your music or listening data.
Yes. When streaming from Bandcamp, Crates provides direct links to purchase it. We encourage supporting artists by buying the music you love — so it stays part of your collection in great quality, forever.
